GOD AND MARRIAGE

“God and Marriage: God’s Way the Right Way!”

I first received the inspiration as I got ready for church this morning, Sunday, June 28, 2015. It was so strong and the thoughts kept flowing in my spirit I had to stop and start writing.
The first thought deposited in my spirit was: “There is a way that seems right unto man but the end thereof is the way of death,” (Proverbs 16:25).

God’s way is the right way and the only way that counts! God’s design and plan for marriage is found in Genesis chapters two and three and Ephesians chapter five!

God himself from the beginning, which was during Creation Week on the sixth day of Creation in the Garden of Eden designed, introduced, instituted, arranged, blessed, and ordained marriage. The first couple was Adam and his wife Eve. One man and one woman, male and female! “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them,” (Genesis 1:27). From the beginning in the Garden of Eden, we see that Satan hates anything that is of God and sets out to attack God’s instituted plan of a perfect marriage. Satan introduced them to sin by having them to disobey what God had instructed them to do. That attack on marriage continues today in human’s rebellious behavior in same sex marriage. In Genesis 2:24 we have the first mention of marriage as between a man and a woman.

We are witnessing the Scriptures fulfilled in our own eyes today. The Bible clearly states in Isaiah 5:20, “Woe unto them that call evil good and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” [Woe means- anguish, affliction, sadness, despair, and misery]. [The Hebrew word for “woe is (“hoh’ee” meaning crying, lamentation, and alas), e-Sword: Strong’s Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries]. The Bible says that man prefers darkness to light. John 3:19-20, “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.”

This is exactly what the Supreme Court of the United States has done in its ruling to legalize same sex marriage. The Supreme Court’s ruling is contrary to the Word of God. By their ruling, they prefer darkness to light, they prefer evil to good, they prefer bitter to sweet. They have written a new law which is man’s law. The Supreme Court Justices by their actions have called wrong right and right wrong. They have called light darkness and darkness light. They will have to give account to God for their actions. Deep within their souls they know that their actions are wrong. I know and believe that the Holy Spirit of God will convict them for the evil that they have done. “For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and morrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart,” (Hebrews 4:12). “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting,” (Galatians 6:7-8).

Those of us who are called by the name of Christ must know what the Bible teaches and be able to articulate such teachings with clarity and conviction in the love of Christ. We must meet people where they are and unfold the plan of God to them, thus, lead them to Christ. This is a time for the church to engage in special discipleship training and counseling approaches to deal with this population of people who may seek membership in your church. Make no mistake about it for they will be coming. They want to be ordained as ministers. They want to be licensed to preach. They are seeking for changes in the language of marriage to be changed to accommodate their lifestyle and practices. For example, “Marriage is between one man and one woman.” Their request is that the statement be changed to read, “Marriage is between two consenting adults.” This is very serious! But, do not panic hold on to the truth of God’s Word. “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them,” (Genesis 1:27). “Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Ad’am, in the day when they were created. (Genesis 5:2). “And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, for this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?” (Matthew 19:4-5). See also Mark 10:6-9).

Christians, people of God, let me remind you that man’s law cannot supersede God’s law nor can man’s law replaces God’s law. “I am the LORD I change not,” (Malachi 3:6). There is only one Supreme Court and that is the Supreme Court of heaven and there is only one Supreme Judge who is The Supreme Judge God Almighty. God and God alone is Chief Justice and He alone has the final word. God’s Word will not return to him void or empty for it will accomplish that which God pleases.

As Christians and servant leaders, we have a responsibility to teach the Word of God. In Genesis chapter three, God told Adam and Eve to multiply and replenish the earth. Two men CANNOT PROCREATE. Together they cannot multiply and replenish the earth. Similarly, two women CANNOT PROCREATE as God commands married couples to do. According to the U.S. Supreme Court’s design of marriage the human race will be extinct before long for two men and two women cannot multiply and replenish the earth. Together they cannot have children. Will God allow the human race to be extinct? NO! God will take action in His own time.

In Proverbs 16:25 the Word of God states, “There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” The way that seems right to man as it relates to same sex marriage leads to death of conscience; death of desire for God’s will and purpose; death for the things of God, and then in the end physical death and lastly eternal death. It is not God’s desire that man should perish. “For God so loved the world; that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16). It is by our own choice that we suffer, perish, die and go to hell. Hell was not prepared for you, for us. Hell was prepared for the Devil and his angels. However, if anyone chooses to rebel against the precepts of God, he/she will be punished in hell. “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:” Matthew 25:41). Hell was prepared for the devil and his angels.

In Deuteronomy 30:15, "See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and adversity.” Because God gave mankind choices, mankind has the option to choose as they please. However, the choices we make have rewards or consequences. The Word of God says, “And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give to every man according as his work shall be. I am Al’pha and O’me-ga, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandment; that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosever loveth and maketh a lie,” (Revelation 22:12-15).

To Adam and Eve God’s instructions were clear. However, Adam and Eve chose death and adversity instead of life and prosperity. As a result, they were put out of the Garden of Eden. Today, God’s Word is calling us to the consciousness of choosing wisely the precepts of God Almighty who is the Supreme Judge of all the earth.  God says in Deuteronomy 30:19, "I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants.” The Word of God says, “Do not be deceived: for God is not mocked. A man reaps what he sows,” (Galatians 6:7). Based on the infallible Word of God, anyone who practices same sex marriage or supports same sex marriage to be right is deceiving himself/herself.
In Matthew 7:13-14 we read, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in therein; Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads unto life, and few there be that find it.” David says in Psalm 18:30, “As for God, His way is perfect: the Word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.” Paul writes, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart,” (Hebrews 4:12)

God’s Word cannot and will not change! His laws remain the same and cannot be replaced by man’s laws. To take away from or to add to God’s Word is a very serious offence to God. Throughout history starting in the Garden of Eden, man continues to justify their actions by taking God’s Word out of context. Humankind has conveniently continues to misinterpret and misrepresent God’s Word. Well, The Holy Bible says, “And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book,” (Revelation 22:19).

Joshua 24:15 "If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." Those who refuse to hear and obey God’s Word will soon be left alone with the choices they make. “And the Lord said, ‘My Spirit shall not always strive with man …,” (Genesis 6:3).
Reprobate mind, hardness of heart, seared conscience, stiff-necked, stubborn:

Today’s generations are considered to be a stiff-necked and rebellious people. According to God’s Word they are resisting the Holy Spirit who prompts them to do the right thing. “You stubborn people! You are heathen at heart and deaf to the truth. Must you forever resist the Holy Spirit? That’s what your ancestors did, and so do you,” (Acts 7:51). Concerning the Israelites, God said to Moses, “They have quickly turned aside from the way which I commanded them. They have made for themselves a molten calf, and have worshipped it and have sacrificed to it and said, ‘This is your god, O Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt!” The LORD said to Moses, “I have seen this people, and behold, they are an obstinate people. “Now then let Me alone, that My anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them; and I will make of you a great nation,” (Exodus 32:8-10).

The key players are- God the Father; Jesus Christ the Son; The Holy Spirit- This is the make-up of “The Supreme Court of heaven.” One day each of us will be called into judgment to give account of the deeds done in our own bodies.
God the Supreme Judge: “God is the judge,” (Psalm 75:7). “It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this comes the judgment,” (Hebrews 9:27).
Jesus is the evidence against you: Jesus died on Calvary’s Cross to redeem the human race from sin. “But God extends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us,” (Romans 5:8)
The Holy Spirit is the witness: “When he the Spirit of truth is come he will guide you into all truth.” (John 16:13).

Therefore, let us according to Job 34:4, "Let us choose for ourselves what is right; Let us know among ourselves what is good.” Joel 3:14, “Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.” Joshua told the multitude, “Choose ye this day whom you will serve … but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord,” (Joshua 24:15). “Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night,” (Psalm 1:1-2). “He who has ears to hear let him hear,” (Matthew 13).

A call to repentance: John the Baptist preached saying, “Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand,” (Matthew 3:2). The kingdom of heaven was Jesus. The same message is relevant today. It is what we should preach. It is the message of repentance. Then, and the kingdom of heaven will be the end of this sinful world. “If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14). Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father but by me,” John 14:6

You cannot actively practice the homo-sexual lifestyle and at the same time be a Christian. God’s Word is very clear. Search the Scriptures! “No one can serve two masters,” (Luke 16:13; Matthew 6:24). “If any man be in Christ he is a new creature. Old things are passed away and behold all things are made new,” (2 Corinthians 5:17). “Our hearts are transformed and our minds are renewed.” (Romans 12:2).

My Recommendations for the Body of Christ, the Church
-This is a time for the church to engage in special discipleship training, counseling techniques, and counseling approaches to deal with this population of people (homo-sexual) who may eventually seek membership in your church.
- Be proactive and have a plan with policies and procedures in place
- Fervently study the Word of God. Search the Scriptures and know what it teaches.
-Speak clearly and correctly articulate the truth of the Word of God
-Know the Word, live the Word, speak the Word, and share the Word.
-Obey the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:19-20.
-Do not compromise the Word of God. Stand on the truth of God’s Word.
-You are an ambassador for Christ and must speak for him and not your own message.
